We are excited to partner with Celebrate H.E.R. in donating washable menstrual pads and carrying bags to girls in Kajiado County, Kenya! In total we sent almost 200 pads and bags in our first shipment to those girls! We encourage you to donate to this worthwhile initiative:
Celebrate H.E.R initiative
In collaboration with Flora Terah of Terah Against Terror, starting in Kajiado County, Kenya, young girls celebrate their health, education and rights through a girl to girl leadership training program. The girls learn to sew sanitary napkins for themselves and to sell. They receive reproductive health and hygiene training, and they are educated about the negative effects and medical facts about FGM (Female Genital Mutilation). This initiative is the first of its kind that will be replicated around the country. Women and girls are working together to celebrate, not mutilate. Young girls in rural areas do not have materials or resources to manage their monthly periods. They often have to use mud or rags, and have to drop out of school at the onset of menstruation. If they can make their own sanitary napkins, better understand their bodies and their rights, they can stay in school. If they stay in school, their risk for female genital mutilation, child marriage and early pregnancy is greatly reduced. Enquiries: angadkaur@amarayogaschool.com
